Sunagor 10+15x50 “Maxima” Dual Magnification Binoculars

Introducing from Sunagor Japan, the 10+15x50 “Maxima” Dual Magnification binoculars.  This product represents a major breakthrough from Sunagor in optical technology.  The dual magnification function allows the user to effortlessly change the specification of these binoculars from 10x50 to 15x50 magnification.  This sophisticated function means that effectively, two different pairs of binoculars are combined in one.  This dual magnification technology comes from nearly 50 years of cutting edge, market leading innovation in zoom and high power optics, where Sunagor have established a world class reputation.

Dual Magnification

The dual magnification technology is at the heart of these superb binoculars.  Instantly switching between a standard 10x magnification and a more powerful 15x magnification allows the user a 50% increase in power without interruption or the need to refocus.  This means that in practice you can instantaneously move back and forth between 15x and 10x without the need to readjust any of the binoculars’ focus settings, so you never miss a moment.  The dual magnification feature is operated by a simple switch lever conveniently located under the right eyepiece.  The position and design of the click switch lever means that you can simply operate it using one finger without needing to interrupt your viewing when changing magnification settings.

Specialist Design

Developed in Japan, the binoculars have a durable design, with rubber armoured body to provide protection for the internal optics. The rubber armouring also gives the binoculars a great non-slip surface to grip, even when wearing gloves. The binoculars are ergonomically shaped to sit comfortably in your hands, meaning they remain great to hold even for long periods of time. The twist-up retractable eyecups allow the binoculars to be used by spectacle wearers and there are integral purpose built lugs which allow the binoculars to be used in conjunction with a neck strap (included).  The other design feature is a centrally located tripod socket (located between the two barrels) where the binoculars can be attached to any tripod, if desired.  Despite all the cutting edge technology included, the Sunagor Dual Magnification binoculars measure just 17 x 16cm and weigh only 934g.

10x and 15x Magnification

Sunagor Japan have worked hard to create the best balance between a pleasurable viewing experience and a good level of magnification.  As Sunagor are known for producing high magnification binoculars, careful consideration was needed in order to decide on the two levels of magnification.  After a large amount of research and testing, it was finally decided that a 10x and 15x level were the most complementary in allowing the viewer to be able to both focus on far away activity (at 15x) but then an instant power reduction (i.e. 10x) would also allow them to view activity at a substantially wider field of view, giving the best of both worlds. 

Focusing Redesign

The focus wheel is centrally located for easy access and Sunagor have given it a complete redesign.  The first change is that it has been increased in size by almost 30% compared with previous full size Sunagor models.  This is to make it easier to both operate (if wearing gloves) and quick to find should you be using the binoculars in low light conditions.  The second change is that the wheel has been given a special non-slip rubber texture design.  This adaptation makes the wheel easier to grip and thus more responsive to finite focus requirements, extremely important when focusing the optics to accommodate the two different magnifications.

High Quality Optics

Through further testing, it was found that 50mm objective lenses were most optimal in terms of clarity and brightness of image when operating at either 10x or 15x magnification.  The 50mm objective lenses are treated with specialist Sunagor premium coatings to ensure light transmission is as high as possible. The binoculars also incorporate the highest quality BAK-4 prisms. All of these features result in the reproduction of a well lit image even in poor ambient light conditions guaranteeing a comfortable and clear viewing experience. 

Fine Tune Focusing

The other key area of functionality of the binoculars is focusing. As already discussed, precision focusing is key to accommodating the dual magnification feature and as a result Sunagor has ensured that the binoculars can be fine tune focused. The two functions that facilitate this are the redesigned central focus wheel and an ultra sensitive dioptric adjustment ring located on the right-hand eyepiece. The dioptre works to compensate for any discrepancies in strength between your left and right eye, effectively allowing these binoculars to be personalised to your individual eyesight. Sunagor have perfected this common feature by making it extra sensitive so you can create a very specific and precision level of focus.

Wide Ranging Use

The dual magnification technology is a good middle ground between fixed magnification and zoom binoculars. If you are someone who wants a little more from a pair of binoculars than a conventional fixed magnification but do not require the power of zoom technology, then these binoculars should be perfect for you.
